how to start tomato plants at home

 Cultivation of delicious tomatoes

Tomatoes and onions are the vegetables we add to our daily diet. If we want the taste to be added to our food to be good we can do natural farming instead of chemical farming. We can grow the tomatoes we need ourselves in the backyard or on the terrace of our house. We will see how to grow a delicious tomato plant in this article.

Choose a good tomato plant and variety

Do not choose too thin seedlings, you can choose small tomato seedlings except tall tomato seedlings. Also, avoid plants with high roots. Or you can buy seeds and sow them directly. There are over a hundred varieties of tomatoes and you can choose the one that suits your needs.

Indeterminate tomatoes (most heirlooms) will keep growing until frost and ripen fruits over a longer time period. Mine easily reach 6 feet tall. (See tomato supports below.)

Some of our favorite varieties that fall into the early-producing, small, or cool-weather tolerant group include Stupice, Sungold Cherry, Amber, Scotland Yellow, Granadero, and Green Zebra. For more ideas for a broader array of climates

Light

Choose an area with at least 6 hours of sunlight to grow the tomato plant in your home garden. Thus more tomato fruits will come and taste better.

Tomatoes like warm weather, so northern growers can improve growth by creating a microclimate for their plants.

Soil

It is your soil or soil mixture that can determine the color, size, and taste of your tomatoes. Maybe if the soil is not right we will not get the expected yield. If planting in a pot in the home garden, earthworm compost, coco peat, and sand can be mixed in equal proportions and planted. When planted in the ground, earthworms can be mixed and planted.

Mulching Tomatoes

Mulching is essential for the tomato plant. Mulching can also be done with a home garden newspaper. Keeps the soil moist, prevents weeds, and protects the tomato fruit. Newspaper or paddy straw, peat moss can also be put.

Tomato Watering

Buy and keep a soil wet meter that will help your home garden, which only needs more water in the summer. When there is a lack of water, the plant and the fruit will explode. Water gently once every two or three days to moisten the floor.
